Manual handling is part of everyday life in an early years setting — and it involves much more than lifting boxes. Practitioners may lift and lower children, work at floor level, move equipment, rearrange learning environments, carry resources and respond quickly to children throughout the day. This interactive course explores how to approach these everyday tasks safely. Rather than simply learning a “correct lifting technique”, learners will consider the task, the individual, the load and the environment, recognise when something increases the risk of injury, and make safer decisions before moving or lifting. The emphasis throughout is simple: stop, assess, adapt and move safely.
